Nigeria - Some ways forward
Fathers’ fellowship
Issues have been raised at the Consultation. Violence in all forms has been exposed and X-rayed. Recommendations have been made.
What remains is the strategy for disseminating information to our various churches, especially to the men.
It is widely known that men find it very difficult to meet in conference, but some years ago, some Church leaders instituted the Fathers’ Fellowship. This group has matured into a formidable one that is seriously challenging the Mothers’ Union in their output. They are contributing very much to the spiritual and physical growth of the family. Hand in hand with the Mothers’ Union, they are working hard to uphold the good health of our nuclear family as well as that of our macro-family – the Church.
The Fathers’ Fellowship, properly informed, will spread the good news of cessation of all forms of violence in our families as it concerns them as stakeholders in the family.
The co-ordinators of Sunday School, and the youth organisations such as Girls’ Guild, Boy Scouts and Anglican Youth Fellowship will take care of the teeming virile youth of the Province. Thus we shall have gone a long way to reach everyone with our message of non -violence in our ranks as a family of God.
